Severe storms swept through the area for the second time in a week on Friday causing flood conditions throughout the county. Schools stretching from Bell to Claiborne County let out early because of the severe weather. According to Bell County Judge Executive Albey Brock, Shillala was one of the hardest hit areas. Flood waters put motorist and some home owners in danger as water rose throughout the duration of the storms. One home in the Calvin community literally had a river of flood water running through as shown in the photo taken by Bell County EMS Director Ben Barnett. Low lying areas on several roads in the county were also flooded, as was the yards surrounding many homes in area.
