FRAKES - As part of the Girl Scout 100th Anniversary Celebration, girls across the Kentucky Wilderness Road Council have the opportunity to take on the Green, Gold, Silver and Blue Trefoil Challenge.

Girl Scout Troop 214, a multi-level troop from Frakes, has taken on the challenge. In a meeting earlier this year, the girls came up with over 100 different words using the letters from “Juliette Gordon Low”, the name of the founder of the Girl Scouts in the USA. This was done to complete the Gold Challenge which was to connect to the history of Girl Scouts.

To complete the Blue Challenge, which was to make a service project extra special by helping someone in need, the girls collected soda pop tabs for donation to the Ronald McDonald House in Lexington. They have collected 214 pop tabs.

To finish the challenge, the girls plan to march in the 2012 Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival Parade for the Silver Challenge of sharing the joy of Girl Scouting with others, and to do a beautification project near Hope United Methodist Church in Frakes where they meet for completion of the Green Challenge of a Take Action Project to improve their community.
