MIDDLESBORO — David J. Collins, 77 of Middlesboro, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the Middlesboro ARH.

He was born September 29, 1934 in Middlesboro, KY, the son of the late John and Cora Howerton Collins. He was a member of the Millers Chapel Baptist Church. A veteran of the United States Army, David had been employed by Cumberland Gap National Park and he was a carpenter by trade.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Rita Collins Sutton.

He is survived by the following members of his family: his wife of 55 years, Judy Earle Collins, Middlesboro; 1 daughter, Carolyn (James) Redmond, Middlesboro; 2 sons, Randol (Brenda) Collins and Jerry (Jessica) Collins, all of Middlesboro; 6 grandchildren, Amy Evans, Billy J. Collins, Crystal D. Lee, Joanna N. Sutton, Peyton A. Collins and Jayson R. Collins; 6 great-grandchildren, Amanda and Jacob Martin, Landen and Noah Hemphill, Jayla Lee and Gabriella Zavaleta; 1 great-grandson, Brody Collins; 1 great-great-granddaughter, Riley Martin; 2 brothers, George Collins and Johnny Collins, both of Middlesboro; 1 sister, Janie Vanbeber, Middlesboro, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at the Millers Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Harrell and the Rev. Travis Thompson presiding. Music will be provided by Clyde Earle and the Millers Chapel Singers.

Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, at the Oakview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randol Collins, Jerry Collins, James Redmond, Billy Collins, Colby Lee and Steve Earle.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at the Millers Chapel Baptist Church.
