ANTHONY CLOUD / Middlesboro Daily News

Students at West End Primary School in Middlesboro got a treat Friday as members of the Bell County Friends of the Shelter (FOS) presented a program on animal safety for Be Kind to Animals Week. As part of the program, Officer Josh Burchett of the Middlesboro Police Department spoke with the kids briefly about his K-9 companion Pecco. He explained his experience with training Pecco and the tools used to train him. Bell FOS member Charlotte Newland, after instructing students on the rules for animal safety, allowed the students to pet her dog Molly.
