Ray E. Spade

MIDDLESBORO — Ray E. Spade, age 96 of Middlesboro, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012, at the Claiborne County Hospital, Tazewell, Tenn.

He was born June 15, 1915, at Springdale, W.Va., and was the son of the late William Grover and Edna Dale White Spade.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Spade; step-mother, Louise Spade; son and daughter-in-law, Ray Edward and Norma Spade; daughter, Phyllis Hollandsworth; granddaughter, Robin Hollandsworth West; grandson, Larry Spade; sons-in-law, L.T. Lewis and John J. Myles; daughter-in-law, Carol Spade; three brothers, Ralph, Roy and Lankford “Buzz” Spade; and sisters, Ester Burdette and Zella Boring.

Survivors include his sons, Charles (Pauline) Spade, Tommy Spade, and Bruce (Debbie) Spade, all of Middlesboro; daughters, Mary Francis Lewis of Middlesboro, and Mary Ruth Myles of Lewisburg, W.Va.; special son-in-law, Jack Hollandsworth of Ewing, Va.; brother, Robert Spade of Middlesboro; sister, Karen Spade of Middlesboro; 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and caregivers, Clara, Lisa, Michelle, Fay, Percilla, and Eupha.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Warf presiding.

Interment will be at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Green Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

he family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the Creech Funeral Home.
