Local players competed at the state tennis tournament in Lexington last week and Pineville’s Luke Brooks (above) fared the best of the group. Brooks defeated Brock Sigler of Paducah Tilghman in the first round 6-7 (4), 6-1, 7-6 (4). In round two he went up against number two seed Sean Donohue of St. Xavier and was eliminated 6-0, 6-1.
Middlesboro’s Taylor Moyers (right) lost in the first round in straight sets against seeded Cassie Pennington of Greenwood.
Lady Jacket Trinity Goodman (below) also went out in the first round, losing to Sarah Stearman of Manual in straight sets.
