A Middlesboro man was arrested on May 31 on an attempted murder charge and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center.

Officer Justin Barton of the Middlesboro Police Department arrested Erstil Sheckles, 46, for the attempted murder of Tammy Baker. The charge stems from an alleged incident that occurred on May 18 at 105 Webb Lane in Middlesboro.

According to the press release, police said Sheckles caused serious injuries to Baker on several occasions during the night and failed to provide medical attention to her. Baker was flown by Air Evac to UT Medical Center for treatment.

At this time Baker is still hospitalized and being treated for her injuries. The case is still being investigated by Barton and Det. Joe Holder.

Sheckles is being held on a $500,000 full cash bond.
