Staff Report

The annual Battle of Jonesville will take place from June 8 -10. This event has been voted southwestern Virginia’s premier event. The “battle”, which will be held on part of the original battlefield, always attracts re-enactors and spectators from several states.

The schedule of events include: Saturday morning tactical, two exciting battles on part of the original battlefield, union and confederate memorial services, cav-artillery and infantry demonstrations, raffles, period church services on Sunday, book authors, food concessions, photographer, Saturday evening meal, night fire artillery, and much more.

Artillery bounties cost $100 for the first four full scale guns only. Mounted cavalry bounties are $25 and infantry bounties are $100 (largest union and confederate units, 20 or more and will be able to be on the field both days).

Registration is $5 per participant and the deadline for registration is June 8. All walk-ons will be charged $8.

The event is sponsored in part by H. Ronnie and Sandy Montgomery, Lee County Historical Society, Civil War Trails Battlefield Foundation and Food City.

For more information or a registration packet, please call (276) 546-6010 or e-mail Jerry Parsons at jerryparsons@hotmail.com.
