Middlesboro took on American Legion Post 109 from Tazewell, Tenn., Tuesday evening in Junior League (13- and 14-year-olds) baseball. The boys from Tazewell held on for a 6-5 win in the first game of a scheduled double-header. Logan Capps led Middlesboro with two hits and a run scored while Van Ball singled, walked and scored twice. Matthew Mike was hit by a pitch and scored on Jacob Spurlock’s RBI ground out and Tyler McCullough also scored a run for the Jackets after drawing a walk.
