Staff Report
Mike White will remain as the acting Pineville Independent School superintendent for the time being. During a special-called meeting, the Pineville School Board announced that they would hire White as the interim superintendent until another was hired.
“I am privileged to (be acting superintendent) until they hire someone to lead the district,” said White.
White recently announced his plans to retire as Pineville Independent superintendent. White has served a total of 15 years as the Pineville superintendent.
The search for a new Pineville superintendent is still on. Kentucky School Board Association (KSBA) is assisting the school district in finding a superintendent.
KSBA will have a meeting on Monday, according to White, to discuss a timeline for finding a new superintendent. This timeline will address advertisements for the position, meeting times, nominations and elections.
A screening committee of two teachers, one classified employee, one principal, one parent and one board member from the district will be put together to aid in the search. Once the advertisement is finalized, the recruitment process will begin.
The aid must be posted with the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) for 30 days.
KSBA recently helped the Bell County School District select a new superintendent also.
