The Appalachian All-Star Classic, which features many of the top boys and girls underclass basketball players in Kentucky’s 12th through 16th regions is Friday at the Nixon Athletic Center adjacent to Leslie County High School in Hyden.
The 8th annual series of All-Star games is set to start with skills competitions at 1 p.m. There will be a North vs. South girls All-Star game at 2 p.m. with three North vs. South boys All-Star games tentatively set for 4 p.m., 5:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Bell County sophomore-to-be point guard Jessica Sanders will be playing for the South girls team. She’s the only local player involved, though several others from around the 13th Region will be taking part. Pineville seniors John Simpson and Byron David Asher were invited, but were unable to attend.
