Catherine Mong Byrne

Catherine Mong Byrne, age 92, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012, in Fort Meyers, Fla.

Born June 11, 1920, in Greenville, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Gennieve Mong.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marcena Byrne; brothers, LaDon Mong and Morris Mong; and sister, Jennetta Stockslager.

She is survived by her son, M Mikel (Vicki) Byrne, Middlesboro; grandson, Jon-Mikel (Bryant) Byrne, Charleston, S.C.; great-granddaughter, Kylie Blair Byrne, Charleston, S.C.; sister, Faye Cook, Matlacha, Fla.; nephews, Ronald Mong, Upper Sanduski, Ohio, Donald Mong, Lake City, Fla., John Stockslager and Harold Stockslager, both of Greenville, Ohio, and Phillip Stockslager of Florida; and niece, Janet Hunley, Indianapolis, Ind.

The family received friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 26, at the Oliver Funeral Home. Internment followed in the Greenville Cemetery.The Rev. Tony Hunley, Catherine’s great-nephew, officiated.
