PINEVILLE — Michael Wilson from The First Tee of Pine Mountain has been selected to attend the First Tee PLAYer Advanced Academy, July 11-17 at the Four Seasons Resort Las Colinas in Dallas. Wilson is among a select group of 24 participants of The First Tee, ages 15-18, chosen for the academy.
Selection to this academy is very prestigious and only participants who have excelled in their local chapters are invited to apply. The players recommended by their chapters were required to submit a national application which included essay and community service information and also a video of their golf abilities. From over 200 chapters the final 24 were selected.
The First Tee PLAYer Academy provides a unique opportunity for participants within the network that are interested in pursuing collegiate golf, and is designed around the concept that continuous learning is the foundation to becoming an elite player in golf and in life. Throughout the week, participants will receive life skills and golf instruction from The First Tee Coaches and special guest speakers.
Activities will include interactive sessions in the areas of golf technique, education and career exploration, physical fitness and nutrition, and golf equipment fitting. In addition, participants will experience on course play and compete for The Cohen-Tattersall Cup at the Honors Club Golf Dallas.
The First Tee PLAYer Advanced Academy creates an experience rich in both golf and life skills that help to improve the participants’ chances of competing at a higher level athletically and academically.
