For many Tuesday was a day of remembrance of that fateful day in 2001, but for first and second grade students at Yellow Creek School Center it was a day for a history lesson. For many of these youngsters, who were not yet born when the planes hit the World Trade Center and Pentagon, and crashed in Pennsylvania, this was their first lesson on the tragedy. Faculty members talked about their memories of that fateful day and the impact it had on the nation. Special guests at the program were representatives from the Middlesboro police and fire departments, who in addition to talking about 9/11 discussed their role in serving and protecting the community. After their conclusion of the program, the students presented the firemen and police officers with art work and writings they had done for their departments.
