Mary Esther (Grandma Ett) Van Winkle, age 99, Middlesboro, passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 at Middlesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born July 27, 1913 to the late Tilman and Anna Hurst of Bell County. She owned and operated her own store in Hutch, KY and was known to the community as “Grandma Ett”. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Esther; brothers: Milland, Lee Roy, Luther, Robert, and Glenn; and sisters: Cleo Hurst, and Clara Ball.

She is survived by her daughter, Vola M. Lee (Richard); grandsons, Rodney Lee (Liana) and Randy Lee; great- grandchildren, Dustin Lee, Nicholas Lee, Christopher Lee, Benjamin Lee, and Ramney Skorupski; great- great- grandchildren, Anna Skorupski and Vivian Lee; and sister, June Rowlett.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Fultz officiating. The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m., Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers will be Rodney Lee, Randy Lee, Christopher Lee, Benjamin Lee, Clay Hurd, and Thomas J. Hurst. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in TN.
