James Hensley, age 72 of Speedwell, Tenn., formerly of Rose Hill, Va., passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at the Claiborne County Hospital in Tazewell, Tenn.

Born January 30, 1940, he was a son of the late McKinley and Cora (Ely) Hensley. A native of Lee County, Va., he lived in Speedwell for the past 20 years. He was a farmer and loved gardening. He was also a retired truck driver in the coal industry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Georgia Hensley; and one brother, Walter Carson Hensley.

Surviving are his two daughter, Pam Hensley of Tazewell, Tenn., and Patsy Hensley of Harrogate, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Erin Renee Hensley of Harrogate, Tenn.; four brothers, Oscar Hensley and wife Diana of Conway, Ark., Glen Hensley of Eastlake, Ohio, Rex Hensley and wife Charlotte of Rose Hill, Va., and Sam Hensley and wife Barbara of Rose Hill, Va.; three sisters, Marie Snodgrass of Willoughby, Ohio, Phyllis McManus and husband Tommy of Orlando, Fla., and Beulah Wilder and husband Burl of Rose Hill, Va.; sister-in-law, Linda Hensley of Rose Hill, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Rose Hill, Va.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Robert Charles Long officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Wilder-Hensley Family Cemetery in Rose Hill, Va. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery prior to services.
