SPENCERVILLE, Ohio — Oliver Pittman, 81 of rural Spencerville, died Monday morning Oct. 22, 2012 in his residence following a sudden illness.

He was born Feb. 19, 1931 in Cubbage, Bell County, Ky., a son of Grover and Roberta Cowan Pittman, who are deceased. On Sept. 10, 1958, he married Lorene M. Gibbons, who survives.

Also surviving are four children, Edward (Dorothy) Miracle of Rockford, Beverly (Bill) Collins of Lima, Kimberly Favourite of Napoleon and Lesa (Byron) Fetzer of Delphos; nine grandchildren, Scott Miracle, New Haven, In., Jason (Jennifer) Croft and Jenna Croft, both of Napoleon, Brittany (Tony) Wourms, Spencer Fetzer and Rachel Fetzer, all of Delphos, Tom (Peggy) Collins of Toledo, Liz (Ted) Nolette of Toledo and Heather Collins of Cincinnati, Ohio; six great grandchildren; three sister, Idella Pittman of Middlesboro, Norma Jean Cavault of Quincy, Ohio and Louise (Larry) Hoskins of Fredericksburg, Va.; and three brothers, Earl (Betty) Pittman of Knoxville, Tenn., Cleston (Emogene) Pittman of Rose Hill, Va. and Grover (Sue Ellen) Pittman Jr. of Dendee, Mich.

He is preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Mills and a Brother, Wendell Pittman.

Oliver was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was married 54 years to his loving wife. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a life member of the Bowersock Bros. VFW Post 6772 and was a member of the Harry J. Reynolds American Legion Post 191, both of Spencerville. He was a member of the Spencerville Church of the Nazerene.

He was a kind and loving , a friend to all, a man of faith and loved Bluegrass music. He worked 40 plus years as a supervisor at Ohio Decorative Products in Spencerville, retiring in 1996.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville. His nephew, Rev. Ronald Pittman and Rev. Tom Shobe wil be officiating.

Burial will be at a later date in the Elydale Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Ewing, Va.

Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Assn. in honor of his wife or to the American Lung Assn.
