Glacier Girl returns home for celebration

The P-38 known as “Glacier Girl” returned home for the 100 years of aviation celebration on Thursday. The airplane performed a small air show for those in attendance at the celebration. “Glacier Girl” is pictured here taking off from the runway.

Its a shame we had to lose this attraction. We need something unique as a draw for tourism. Just having mountains and a place to ride four-wheelers won't get us far. Lots of places have mountains - some haven't even been strip-mined.

Despite the affection locals might have for the place, its what outsiders think that determine if they come here and spend money. That is the name of the game, isn't it?
