Ruth Virginia Browning, age 89, of Middlesboro, passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012 at Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born December 5, 1923 in Middlesboro, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Browning and Dorothy Brooks Browning, and brother, Ray Browning.

She is survived by sister, Betty L. Treece of Speedwell, TN; niece, Kay Treece Robertson and husband, Larry of Speedwell, TN; nephew, Kenny and wife, Judy Treece of Harrogate, TN; great-nephew, David and wife, Susan Robertson; and great-great- niece, Bethany Robertson of Speedwell, TN.

Ruth was a member and a worker for the Lord at Southside Baptist Church, where she was active in Women on Mission and taught Sunday School. She was a member and active with AARP, in which she also held office. Ms. Ruth Browning was a bookkeeper for Woolsworth Department Store for 35 plus years. She was loved by all who met her and will be deeply missed by those who knew her.

Funeral service will be Sunday, December 23, 2012 at 7 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church of Middlesboro with Rev. Jay Sulfridge officiating. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at Browning Cemetery, Monday, December 24, 2012 at 11 a.m. Pallbearers will be the men of Southside Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers are Alvie Cunningham, Jr, Dennis Estes, Wayne Estes, Jackie Gerding, David Robertson, and Larry Robertson.
