Hazel Carter, age 61, Middlesboro, KY, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital. She was born July 27, 1951 in Middlesboro, KY, the daughter of the late Charlie Mayes and China Carmack. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her son, Michael Redmond.

She is survived by her mother, China Carmack; her daughters: Kimberly Ealy and Renee Carter; grandchildren: Lauren Essary, Ericka Collett, Brianna Thacker, and Michael Thacker; brothers: Donald Mayes and George Vantuyle; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Braden officiating. Pallbearers will be Eddie Ealy, Junior Patterson, Michael Smith, James Drummonds, Jimmy Dale Harp and Leroy Harp. Burial will be in Saylors Cemetery. The family will receive friends 11-1 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2013.
