During the community development subcommittee meeting on Tuesday, it was agreed that the council will move forward with designing a new website for the city. Community development chair Bo Green and Middlesboro Mayor Bill Kelley met with the developer recently to discuss the proposal.

The revised proposal would cost a little over $4,000. That price would include a yearly hosting fee, setup, design and all the graphics for the website. There would be a 50 percent down payment to move forward with the website.

Green stated the developer would be contacting each department head for information on the different city departments.

Kelley also reported there was two more houses being moved on for demolition in the upcoming weeks.

During the safety meeting, Middlesboro Police Chief Jeff Sharpe reported he is currently working on getting cameras installed in the department and police vehicles.

Sharpe stated it would be $35,000 for the camera program for the cars and hopes he will be able to finish putting cameras around the building for under $7,500.

Dress codes were also a main topic during the safety meeting. The committee and Middlesboro Fire Chief Tim Wilder are looking into changing uniforms for the department.

It is possible the new uniforms will consist of polo shirts. The committee gave Wilder the go ahead to look for different prices from several vendors. The plan is to get all the uniforms from the same vendor.
