BREVARD, N.C. — The Lady Railsplitters overcame a poor shooting performance and erased a 12-point second half deficit on Wednesday, as junior guard Kalasia Green netted a three-pointer with five seconds left to lift LMU to a 46-45 victory over Brevard.

It was the fifth win in the last six games for Lincoln Memorial (13-10, 6-7 SAC) while Brevard falls to 5-16 on the year and 3-10 in league play.

LMU shot just 31.5 percent from the field and turned the ball over 14 times, which helped Brevard out to a 37-25 advantage with 10:06 left in the contest. However, the Lady Railsplitters flipped the script over that final 10-minute stretch with a 21-8 run, capped by Green’s game-winner.

The Lady Railsplitters used a balanced offensive attack, as nine different players put in at least a point in the winning effort on the road. Green led the way with 12 points on a 5-of-10 shooting to go along with four rebounds and a pair of steals. Kelsey Bradford finished with nine points, MaRanda Boddie seven and a team-leading nine rebounds, while Ralissa Nelson chipped in with six points and four boards.

LMU was narrowly edged on the glass, as the Tornados reigned in 39 rebounds to 35 for the Lady Railsplitters. Lincoln Memorial assisted on more than half of the field goals in the game with nine assists on 17 made buckets. Miranda Davenport led the Lady Railsplitters with three assists.

LMU put on the clamps defensively, limiting Brevard to only 27.9 percent shooting (17-for-61). Micheala Watkins led all players in the game with 17 points. Tuccoa Brackett also netted double-figures with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Only three other players scored in the game for the Tornados.

Brevard opened by scoring the first four points on buckets by Brackett and Shelby Wolfe to take early command of the board. By the 15:17 mark of the first stanza, the Tornados marched out to a 9-4 advantage following a pair of free throws by Wolfe. The Lady Railsplitters countered that start by churning out a 9-0 run, capped with a layup by Green at the 11:05 mark, to take a 13-9 lead.

It was tied at 13 and 17, before Bradford knocked down a 3-pointer late in the half as the Lady Railsplitters took a 20-17 lead into the locker room.

Brevard drained their first three shots of the second half during an 8-0 run to regain the lead at 25-20 with 17:47 left in regulation. Later, LMU went through a seven-minute scoring drought and a Tornado 10-0 spurt pushed the lead to 37-25 with 10:06 to play.

Nelson ended the run with a three at the 9:20 mark, which was answered with a bucket by Micheala Watkins in the next Tornado possession.

Trailing 39-28 with only 9:19 left, the Lady Railsplitters rallied back into the game with an 8-0 run over the next four minutes and five seconds, as Jasmine Kelly capped that run with a layup to make it 39-36 in favor of Brevard with 5:14 left to play.

The two teams traded punches over the next several minutes until Boddie put in a layup with 3:35 left to cut the deficit to 43-41. With 2:08 left on the clock, Brackett drained a pair of free throw attempts to extend the Tornados’ lead to four at 45-41. Bradford netted a jumper with 46 ticks left to bring LMU within two, and Green followed a steal by Kortnay Cox with her game-winning 3.

The Lady Railsplitters will look to continue their winning ways this weekend, as they are slated to travel to Anderson, S.C., for a battle with the Trojans. That game is set to tip at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
