HARROGATE, Tenn. — The Lincoln Memorial University softball team has announced a pair of schedule changes for the upcoming weeks. The Lady Railsplitters’ nonconference doubleheader against Virginia Intermont, originally scheduled for Wednesday in Bristol, Va., has been cancelled due to inclement weather throughout the area.
Along with that cancellation, the Lady Railsplitters will take on King College on March 14 in Bristol, Tenn., in nonconference action that was originally scheduled for Feb. 27.
Lincoln Memorial (15-8) will be back in action this weekend, as they are set to kickoff South Atlantic Conference play with a double-header against the Wingate Bulldogs (14-7-1) on Saturday at Dorothy Neely Field. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
The Lady Railsplitters captured victories in all three of their games at the Mid-South Classic this past weekend, grabbing a 7-6 win over Lander, a 10-1 victory over Augusta State and a 12-11 triumph over King College to extend their winning streak to five games. They have won 13 of their last 15 contests.
Samantha Smith got the win in all three games to run her record to 10-4 on the season. Over 18 1/3 innings she struck out 19 while allowing 10 earned runs on 21 hits.
Offensivley, the Lady Railsplitters were led in the three games by six hits and six runs scored out of the leadoff spot from Brianna Mulkey. Amanda Snow had four hits, including a hom run, and drove in four, while Laura Taricano had a five-RBI game with a total of four hits and three runs scored. Kristin Toole and Dana Reed also had homers during the Mid-South Classic.
