Middlesboro police officers report the arrest of two women on unrelated drug charges and also a man and a woman on identify theft related charges.

Robin R. Brown, 30, was arrested Monday by Middlesboro Police Department Officer Barry Cowan on the charge of first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

Officers were to dispatched to Goody’s to walk through the store because of possible shoplifters. While inside the store, an employee advised officers that one of the suspicious shoplifters was inside a fitting room.

According to the arrest citation, Brown stepped out wearing a Goody’s shirt. As a result of a search, a wallet was allegedly found containing a syringe/needle, a clear plastic baggie with six oblong blue pills, later identified as Xanax. In addition, a white pill bottle containing 193 blue round pills was found with the contents later identified as oxycodone.

Brown was also charged with drug paraphernalia and third-degree possession of a controlled substance.

A Harrogate, Tenn. woman was also arrested on a felony drug charge on Thursday. Penny Givens, 50, was arrested by Cowan on the charge of first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

During a traffic stop Cowan found Oxy 10mg, according to the arrest citation. He also allegedly found a open can of beer in the vehicle.

Givens was also arrested on the charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence and possession of an open alcohol beverage container in the vehicle.

In other police news, a Middlesboro man and woman were arrested for identity theft. Randy Posey, 32, was arrested by MPD Officer Justin Barton on the charge of theft of identity of another without consent. Jwana Marsee, 32, was arrested on the charge of complicity to commit theft of an identity without consent.

In January, Barton conducted a traffic stop on Posey at Bill’s Market. It was at that time Posey allegedly gave the officer a false name. Marsee was in the vehicle with Posey and allegedly went along with the false statement, according to the citation.

The victim of the identity theft contacted the police stating he had a warrant on him because of the alleged actions of Posey and Marsee.

Marsee was released on Friday.

According to the detention center website, Posey was still in custody as of Friday afternoon.
