BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — Notre Dame’s Carlee Clemons scored the go-ahead putback with 32 seconds to play in overtime to give the Pandas a 57-53 win over Madison Central on Thursday night in the first round of the KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 at Diddle Arena.

Region 9 champion Notre Dame (26-5) advances to play Region 1 champ Marshall County (27-9) Friday in the tournament’s quarterfinals.

Clemons’ tip-in off an Olivia Voskuhl missed jumper gave the Pandas a 54-53 lead 19 seconds after a Larryn Brooks free throw gave the Lady Indians a one-point advantage.

Voskuhl scored a team-high 14 points for Notre Dame, adding five rebounds. Haylee Smith scored 10 points, gathered 14 rebounds and tallied six assists.

Ashton Feldhaus scored a game-high 26 points and pulled down 14 rebounds for Madison Central (29-4). Brooks scored 19 points and tallied four assists.

Owensboro Cath. 66, Lincoln Co. 53

Owensboro Catholic’s Rebecca Greenwell scored 32 points as the Lady Aces beat Lincoln County 66-53 in the first round of the KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 at Diddle Arena.

The Duke signee also recorded 12 rebounds, three assists and three steals in helping Owensboro Catholic to its first ever Sweet 16 win on Thursday. Kaylyn Pearson added 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Region 3 champion Lady Aces (24-7) finished 31-of-40 from the free throw line. The Lady Patriots (27-6) shot just six free throws, making four.

Sydney Harris led Lincoln County with 18 points and seven rebounds. Emily Fox added 13 points, four assists and three rebounds for the Region 12 champions.

Owensboro Catholic advances to play the winner of Mercy and Manual in Friday night’s quarterfinals.

Marshall Co. 56, Letcher Central 52

Marshall County’s Taylor Meadows scored 18 points Thursday night to lead the Lady Marshals to a 56-52 win over Letcher County Central in the first round of the KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 at Diddle Arena.

Marshall County (27-9) recovered from a four-point third quarter by out-scoring the Lady Cougars 21-12 in the fourth quarter. Letcher County Central’s Kelah Eldridge had a chance to tie the game at 54 in the last minute, but her jump shot with 9 seconds left was no good.

Mariah McKenty added four rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Region 1 champion Lady Marshals.

Eldridge led the Region 14 champion Lady Cougars (29-6) with 17 points. Julie Cornett added 16 points and a game-high 18 rebounds.

Manual 74, Mercy 60

DuPont Manual’s Kayla Styles scored 17 points in leading the Lady Crimsons to a 74-60 win over Mercy in the first round of the KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 at Diddle Arena.

The Lady Crimsons advance to play Region 3 champion Owensboro Catholic in Friday’s quarterfinals.

Styles flirted with a triple-double Thursday, also tallying nine rebounds and seven assists. Morgan Allen and Aricka Prentice added 14 points apiece for the Region 7 champions.

Assistant Tim Holman coached Manual. He was filling in as head coach Stacy Pendleton continued a three-game suspension stemming from an ejection in the region semifinals.

Kayla Richardson had a team-high 12 points for Region 6 champion Mercy. Morgan Doherty added 10 points, four rebounds and three steals.

The teams combined to shoot 85 free throws.
