June Chumley Smith, 83, of Middlesboro, Ky. passed away Friday, April 26 at the Middlesboro Appalachian Hospital after a brief illness.

Mrs. Smith was born in Middlesboro in 1929, the daughter of Ward and Cora Evans Chumley.

She graduated from Middlesboro High School in 1946. She was a graduate of Lincoln Memorial University and Union College and was a retired teacher from Pineville Independent School system.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 50 years, Foster R. Smith, three sisters: Beulah C. Bryant, Ruth C. Turner, and Frances C. Damron.

June is survived by her daughter, Charla (Bob) Costanzo; son, Eddie Ray Smith; grandson, Jason (Crystal) Smith of Richmond, Ky.; granddaughters, Danielle and Emily Costanzo of Middlesboro, and Raychel and Kristen Smith of Barbourville, Ky.; great grandsons, Kyle, Seth, and Mason Smith of Richmond, Ky. and two brothers, Bill (Colleen) Chumley of Speedwell, Tn. and Jack Chumley of Texarkana, Ar. and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be at Creech Funeral Home on Sunday, April 28 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. Memorial service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with Steven Earle officiating.
