“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” Psalms 37:23

James H. “Jimmy” Jackson, age 83, passed away at his home on June 7, 2013 to be with his Lord after a lengthy illness. He carried his cross with great dignity, humility and acceptance without questioning or complaint of his Savior.

Jimmy was born on May 16, 1930, a son of the late Dorsey L. Jackson and Verda Jackson Byrd who survives. In addition to his Father, he was preceded in death by his Brother: Bobby Jackson, Uncles: Milt, Bob and Solly Jackson, Brother in Law: Ralph Jefferson, his Paternal and Maternal Grandparents and several other Family members.

Jimmy was a charter member of the Binghamtown Baptist Church and served as a child and an adult in the capacity of Janitor, Choir Member, Sunday School Superintendent, and Teacher, Trustee, Deacon, and his most beloved ministry as Minister of Music at Binghamtown Baptist Church for 48 years. In 2012, Jimmy stepped aside as Minister of Music because his physical man could no longer stand in its own strength. Jimmy’s gift from God was his golden voice which he gladly and joyfully gave back to his Lord through his ministry at the church, revivals, funerals and countless other places.

He was a graduate of Middlesboro High School and National School of Business. He was a Korean War Veteran and a member of the following School Boards: Middlesboro School System, Gateway Christian School and Clear Creek Baptist Bible College. Jimmy was also a Master Mason of Pinnacle Lodge of #661. Jimmy was a State Farm Insurance Agent for 48 years having retired due to illness. He was privileged to have many insurance policy holders whom he called friends.

Jimmy learned how to set his priorities throughout his journey of life, remembering to love God and Jesus first, his family second and others third. Today and forever, we, as his family, shall always rise up and call him blessed because he taught us how to live with dedication and how to die with humility, grace and peace. Blessed be the name of the Lord for giving us the precious gift of Jimmy Jackson a true faithful servant and soldier of the cross.
