James Arville (Jim) Archer, age 73 of Middlesboro, passed away Friday, June 14, 2013 at his home. He was born March 3, 1940 in Middlesboro, the son of the late Jimmy Archer and Mandy Houston Archer. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his five sisters: Aslee Archer, Evelyn Archer, Mary Lauharn, Edna Mae Barnes, and Juanita Ridgeway. He was a Veteran of the US Army. He believed in the Holiness faith.
He is survived by his sister: Ruby Barnett of Middlesboro; five children: Frank and Mandi (Archer) Woodward of Luna Pier, MI, Thomas and Kelli (Archer) Vance, Randy and Kathy (Archer) Poore, Mark and Cindy Perkins, James (Sam) and Sarah Archer, all of Monroe, MI; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Braden officiating. Music will be provided by the Church of the First Born Choir. Burial will follow in Hensleys Cemetery. The family will receive friends 11-1 p.m., Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel.
