HARROGATE, Tenn. — A shooting in a Harrogate neighborhood sent one man to the hospital early Thursday night.

Just before 7 p.m., Claiborne County deputies were dispatched to a home off Regent Drive.

The shooting allegedly occurred because of a longstanding dispute over property between two men who had been neighbors for over 20 years.

John Roberts was outside clearing some land on a bulldozer when his neighbor, Brad Robbins approached him stating the land was his.

According to authorities, both men had guns in their possession and pulled them on one another.

Roberts shot at Robbins, hitting him twice.

Robbins was flown to UT Medical Center in Knoxville while Roberts was taken into questioning by detectives with the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation is ongoing.
