According to Pineville Police Department Officer Tony Francisco, Pauleen Hensley, of Harlan, pulled out in front of Robert Underwood, of Washington, Indiana, who was driving north on Highway 25-E in a Chevy truck hauling a trailer. The collision happened at roughly 7 p.m. and knocked Hensley’s silver car around into the rear end of a school bus, which was parked at the Friendly Mart convenience store, located at the intersection with U.S. 119.
Hensley was ejected from the vehicle and sustained injuries to her head and face, according to Francisco. He said he believed her injuries were not life-threatening and said she was currently at the University of Tennessee hospital in Knoxville.
Underwood’s vehicle continued north on 25-E a short distance and collided into a metal pole, totaling his vehicle. Underwood did not sustain injuries, according to the officer.
The school bus was from Whitley County and sustained minimal damage, according to Francisco. No students were on the bus and the bus driver was inside the gas station when the accident occurred.
Pineville Police Department handled the accident. Kentucky State Police, Pineville Fire Dept., and Bell County EMS were also on scene.
