Born in Knox County, Ky., on December 16, 1933, he was the son of the late Pete and Ada Mills Bailey. He had been a coal miner.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dora Warren and husband Floyd, Louise Reed and husband Arnold, Creasy Mills and husband Taylor; brothers, Walt Bailey, John Bailey and wife Elsie, Raymond Bailey, and Elbert Bailey; a son, Michael Bailey; daughters-in-law, Loretta Bailey, and Janice Bailey; grandchild, John Thomas Bailey; great-grandchild, Taylor Fugate.
Survivors include his wife, Virgie Lewis Bailey; children and their spouses, Wade Bailey, Kenneth Bailey and Ella, Charles Bailey and Dorothy, Rodney Bailey and Polly, Debbie Green and Barry, Chester Bailey and Anita, Mathew Bailey, Mitch Bailey and Alison; grandchildren, Kenneth Bailey Jr., Tonya Bailey, Nelson Bailey, Melissa Bailey, Rodney Wayne Bailey, Rhonda Bailey Roper, Leighanna Bailey Fugate, Nancy Green, Jamie Noel Bailey, Matthew Joshua Bailey, Lindsey Bailey, Leanna Bailey, Chancellor Mitchell Bailey; great-grandchildren, Brandon Bailey, Chelsie Bailey, Summer Bailey, Hunter Bailey, Courtney Collett, Hope Bailey, Timothy Collett, Morgan Fugate and Alexis L. Thompson; brother, Bill and Tamera Bailey; sisters-in-law, Birdie Bailey, Nina Bailey, and Janice Bailey; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, at Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with the Rev. Allen Lord presiding.
Burial will be in the Big Jim Cemetery at Arjay. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
