MIDDLESBORO — Secretary of State and U.S. Senate hopeful Trey Grayson made another stop in Bell County on Friday, as he continued his campaign against Dr. Rand Paul for the Republican nomination in Tuesday‘s primary.

Grayson met with enthusiastic supporters at J. Milton’s Steaks and Buffet restaurant, to ask for their continued support in the increasingly tight race. Grayson addressed key issues facing Kentucky and the nation in his speech: the state of the economy, Kentucky‘s problem with drug abuse, and the future of the coal industry.

Grayson promised the crowd that he will fight to protect the viability of the coal industry.

“I want to be on the energy committee. Senator Bunning is on there now, I think we need a Kentuckian on there,” he announced. “I’ve asked Senator McConnell if he’ll put me on there so I can be on the front lines fighting the EPA and fighting people like Ben Chandler who are trying to legislate this industry out of existence.”

“It doesn’t matter if you’re a school teacher, or you work at the bank, or you own your own equipment, coal is vital to us. And Trey’s going to be a friend to us in that,” Bell County Judge-Executive Albey Brock said.

Applying conservative values to correct the economic recession is part of Grayson’s platform, as well.

“We’re going to focus on getting our fiscal house in order” he told the crowd. “We do need to spend less. We have to restrain federal spending, it’s out of control.”

Grayson says that his record is proof that he knows how to restrain spending while fighting to keep valuable programs intact.

“We’ve slashed spending 15 percent in our office, but we actually do a better job than we did when we first got started. We’ve improved a lot since then, made it easier to do business in Kentucky,” Grayson said. “This is a track record of accomplishment. This is a track record of common sense conservative reform, and that’s what we need in Washington.”

The Secretary of State also contended that he is the better candidate for working to resolve Kentucky’s drug problem.

“We had a debate on Monday night and it was pretty clear to me that Dr. Paul had no idea what UNITE even was,” Grayson asserted. “I’m not sure that he has any idea that we have a huge drug problem and that UNITE is one of the top lines of defense that we’ve even got.”

The Senate hopeful also vowed to work alongside other leaders within his own party, though he stopped short of declaring an intention to reach across party lines.

“You have to work with the folks in your own party,” said Grayson. “You know, I’m not running a campaign against Hal Rogers and what he’s done in this part of the state, or against Mitch McConnell. I want to stand with them and work with them, because they’re important allies for all of us to get what we need from Washington here in Kentucky.”

Grayson ended his remarks by wishing his fellow candidates well in Tuesday’s primary and asking supporters to get out his message.

“If you think we have a little too much Washington D.C. in Kentucky, and you want to put more Kentucky in Washington D.C., I ask for your vote on May 18th,” he concluded.

Brock threw his support for Kentucky’s U.S. Senate race behind Grayson. Brock implored supporters not to take the race lightly, telling the crowd: “This race is very, very important. It’s more important than I can verbalize.”

Grayson told that crowd that he loves Kentucky and that his motivation for entering the race was to improve the state and nation. He questioned the intentions of his opponent Dr. Rand Paul, saying,

“I’m not going [to Washington] because I want to run for President and fulfill my dad’s legacy of a failed presidential campaign.”

What's funny Ricky is that you failed to copy and paste the entire article, in fact the very next paragraph that you failed to copy says:

"Even as the employment picture is less bleak in many states, and the nation as a whole, many economists predict it will take years for the job market to get back to normal. A normal nationwide unemployment rate typically hovers around 5.5 to 6 percent. It's going to be a long slog because economic growth isn't robust enough for companies to ramp up hiring and quickly drive down the jobless rate."

And why isn't economic growth greater? Perhaps the anti-business policies of the obama administration? I know you could never admit that to yourself. Just continue to believe that everything is Bush's fault, obama is your savior, and the American people will speak in November.

LOL...The media is digging hard trying to make 10% unemployment sound good aren't they?? Hilarious to see the extent they go to try to manipulate the data, like the people can't see that the economy is in the crapper and shows no signs of life.

Like I said, let's see what happens in November.

Today's news report: 34 states better off, 200,000 new jobs.

WASHINGTON – Unemployment rates fell in a majority of states last month as improved economic conditions spurred hiring.

The Labor Department said Friday that 34 states and the District of Columbia reported lower jobless rates in April. Six states reported higher rates, while 10 saw unemployment hold steady.

That marked an improvement from March when 16 states and D.C. reported declines in unemployment, 22 states saw increases, and 12 had no change, according to revised figures.

South Carolina's rate fell to 11.6 percent in April, from 12.2 percent in March. That marked the largest monthly drop of any state.

After cutting their work forces to the bone during the recession, companies are starting to boost hiring as their sales and profits improve.

Nationwide, employers added a net 290,000 job in April, the most in four years, the department reported earlier this month. The U.S. unemployment rate, though, rose to 9.9 percent as hundreds of thousands of job hunters — feeling more confident about their prospects — resumed or started searches.

Ah Ricky, your talking points have been destroyed so let's change the subject yet again, right?

Tell ya what - let's set a date and get back together online in November. The American people will speak and we can comment on it.

I can't wait!!

If I were you, Bloggy, I wouldn't be so expectant about future elections. Did you notice who has won the four House seats that were voted on since 2008? Not trending your way, son. Obama ally now favored to beat Arkansas Sen. Lincoln in upcoming runoff. Sestak beats Specter in Pennsylvania. One day after winning primary, Rand Paul makes Jim Bunning sound lucid and coherent, giving Conway campaign a major boost. Florida Senate race a three-way tossup. Worst of all for you, pal, is the party registration numbers, plus the tea bag goofballs siphoning off more GOP votes. Say, Bloggy, what's the word for a minority of a minority of a minority?

Here is the latest news on the ricky garr/obama 'Roaring Economy'!!

http://www.cnbc.com/id/37252159

"Stocks fell sharply Thursday after an unexpected spike in jobless claims escalated a market already jittery about global problems.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down more than 250 points, or over 2.5 percent, and the CBOE volatility index, widely considered the best gauge of fear in the market, spiked more than 25 percent to around 45, its highest level in over a year."

Whew, I don't know if we can stand 2 more years of all this 'roaring'!

Take your blinders off and get yourself educated. The time to start cleaning up this mess begins in November - then the ship can be righted in 2012.

Not really surprising, but Ricky boy has not even researched the 2000 election. The USSC had no jurisdiction? Ha! Look up the Equal Protection Clause in this document that democrats despise called the US Constitution. The USSC would not have had to get involved if the democrat controlled Florida Supreme Court had simply enforced the law that the legislature had written - they were extending deadlines, re-writing recount laws, obviously doing everything in their power to ignore the law and give the election to the democrat. The USSC came in and simply told the Florida Supreme Court that they had to obey the law. Every time you spout one of your idiotic talking points I think you can't get more stupid or uninformed, but you never fail to surprise me with your level of willful ignorance.

Not withstanding your advanced case of Bush Derangement Syndrome, the facts still have not changed:

Obama is the biggest recipient of BP cash over the past 20 years.

Obama administration allowed BP and other oil companies to drill without getting the required permits or doing impact studies.

Obama administration diddled while millions of gallons of oil was pumped into the Gulf.

Obama awarded BP on their safety record while his administration did not do the required safety checks and inspections.

Any recount is irrelevant now, as is the stolen 2004 election in Ohio. The point, Bloggy, is that the USSC had no lgeal grounds -- none -- to take the case out of the Florida SC. Justice Stevens was so outraged, he almost resigned from the court. And, by forcing the issue and installing Bush, the five Republican justices undermined his credibility from the beginning and for always -- though his incompetence made it worse. Bloggy, your rants about BP remind me of the bozos who went off the deep end because Coach Calipari sent Obama a UK jersey. Get off the sidetracks and back on the main line, pal. You're heading for Hooterville. Oh, I suspect that the 60 million who voted Obama last time just might show up again -- unless he turns into Bush and Cheney, and almost nobody's that dumb. Like a rock, only dumber.

Despite your inept blatherings and incoherent ranting the facts have still not changed:

Obama is the biggest recipient of BP cash over the past 20 years.

Obama administration allowed BP and other oil companies to drill without getting the required permits or doing impact studies.

Obama administration diddled while millions of gallons of oil was pumped into the Gulf.

Obama awarded BP on their safety record while his administration did not do the required safety checks and inspections.

As for the 2000 election, good grief - you guys need to take a basic civics class. The president of the US is elected by electors, not the popular vote. The 2000 election was the 4th election where the winner of the popular vote did not get enough electoral votes to win. Every recount conducted even by the liberal media showed that Bush would have won by any recount scenario other than making up votes for Gore. Talk about sour grapes, you guys take the cake.

Can't wait for November to begin the cleanup of the mess obama has made!!

Katrina and its incompetent cleanup left 1,800 Americans dead, Bloggy. Inasmuch as the 58,000 Americans and 2-3 million Vietnamese deaths from that war have yet to concern you, I'll permit you to continue gazing at the imaginary scoreboard where you think Obama is behind. Unfortunately, Obama is far too clever for you and Newt and Rand and all the other Republican hamsters. He actually knows how to run a government -- and to play hardball. Just ask BP. Remember how Obama appointed Sotomayor? Republicans ran to the microphones to alienate every Hispanic voter in America. Smart, guys, smart! Now he's appointed a woman with no paper trail, so the Republicans will either have to vote for her or make up lies, and that will just alienate women voters. Brilliant again. As for PlaytheGame's issue, all I, as a Kentuckian living in Florida, can say is: Bush v. Gore was the absolute worst example of unfounded, unjustified, naked judicial activism in the history of the court. Ask any legal scholar. It was a disgrace. Yet all you hear from witless Republican senators is their opposition to "unelected activist judges." Well, guess who on the court has voted the most times to overturn statutes enacted by the people's representatives in Congress? Yep, Scalia and Thomas, the "strict constructionists." Republicans are frauds. Another one in the House resigned today. He was a major advocate of sexual abstinence education. He had an affair with a female staffer. Guess "family values" are too tough for him and the GOP. And these are the people who announce that they want Obama to fail. Can you imagine any Republican leader doing that in 1933 or 1941? They'd be called what they are -- traitors.

Sorry Ricky, but you are the moron.

Bush declared a disaster 2 days before Katrina hit and was on the ground within 4 days. Obama diddled and the Interior Secretary was on vacation rafting while millions of gallons of oil were pumping into the Gulf. Obama didn't even check it out until after 11 days and the media started asking questions. Just because the media loves obama and won't dare to challenge him, you really ought to take your blinders off and drop the willful ignorance that you display and do some research and think for yourself.

Again, the facts remain unchallenged:

Obama is the biggest recipient of BP cash over the past 20 years.

Obama administration allowed BP and other oil companies to drill without getting the required permits or doing impact studies.

Obama administration diddled while millions of gallons of oil was pumped into the Gulf.

Obama awarded BP on their safety record while his administration did not do the required safety checks and inspections.

So, tell us, Bloggy. are you really a moron, or do you just play on on TV? None of your talking points is going to stick, because the public knows very well the difference between the prompt response by this administration to this disaster, and the inept, lackadaisical response of the Bush-Brownie team to Katrina. Remember all the truckloads of ice that sat on the ground in Maine? Let's see how the primaries today go, and see whether Kentuckians will ever again elect a senator who works for the people and the country. I guess the last one was, oh, probably Henry Clay. Don't that just make you proud, good buddy?

Yada, yada, yada, spin, spin, spin...Same result.

The Obama presidential campaign was funded by more than 1 million individual donors, mostly online, with contributions averaging about $50 each. It was unprecedented as a people's campaign. You can go look it up. Instead of caving in to special interests the way Republicans always do, Obama is now holding BP to a complete payment of its obligations for the spill and subsequent damage in the various states, while Big Oil stooge Mitch McConnell wants to let BP off with a slap on the wrist. What the administration allowed the oil companies to do is the same thing the Bush evildoers put into practice. Now this incompetent agency is being divided into two independent parts, so the granting of leases is not connected to the regulation of the lease holders. A new administration cannot change every policy at once. Amigo, this is change we can believe in.

LOL. Notice how when it's shown that the emperor has no clothes, the subject suddenly changes???

The topic was the oil spill (and Big Oil) and the economy.

The facts are that Obama has been the biggest recipient of BP cash over the past 20 years. It's also fact that his administration allowed BP and other oil companies to drill without doing any impact studies or obtaining the necessary permits. It's also fact that his administration awarded BP for their stellar safety record last year while not doing required inspections. Furthermore, his administration diddled while millions of gallons of crude were pumping into the Gulf. All absolute facts, all beyond dispute - not even the liberal media can spin this away.

Then we talk about the 'roaring' (LOL!) economy with 10% unemployment and massive tax increases looming because of this boondoggle of an insurance bailout bill that was passed.

I don't blame you for trying to change the subject back to your favorite target - the EVIL, EVIL (in your fevered imagination) US military!!

Guess you missed the story in USA Today last week: Americans paying lowest taxes since 1950. Yes, compared to September 2008, when McCain shut down his campaign and flew to Washington because the Bush team had the economy on the brink of meltdown, yes, this is an economy that's roaring back. Unemployment is so high because somebody sent all the manufacturing jobs out of the country. Don't think that was the Obama team, Bloggy.

As for hypocrites, how about pro-military screamers objecting to socialism when the U.S. military is the purest form of socialism in this country? I was about to say it is cradle-to-grave socialism, but it starts before the cradle, as soon as a soldier's wife gets pregnant. Government-paid doctors. Government drugs, food, housing, pension, on and on. Great system, works pretty well. So why can't we have it for our citizens who aren't professional killers?

Unemployment nearly 10% and that's a 'roaring economy'? Ha! You hypocrites were crying when the rate was 4.9% under Bush.

You liberal hypocrites are amazing. Get some facts and try again - you look foolish.
