BROWNIES CREEK — The names of the men involved in Wednesday’s shooting at Brownies Creek have been released by the Kentucky State Police (KSP).

Police discovered 18-year-old Devereux Wilder with a gunshot wound when they responded to a call on Hurst Hollow Road around 4:55 p.m. on Wednesday. Wilder identified his assailant as 53-year-old Kenneth Wade Carter, who fled the scene.

Authorities later found Carter at his residence in the Miracle community, and he was taken into custody by KSP Troopers. Carter is currently being held in the Bell County Detention Center, and has been charged with first degree assault.

Wilder, the victim, was flown to the University of Tennessee (UT) Medical Center, where he is being treated for his injuries.

KSP officials believe the shooting occurred after the two men engaged in an argument over a possible drug debt. The incident is still under investigation by KSP Detective Doyle Halcomb.

An arrest is an accusation only. Individuals arrested are considered to be innocent, unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Why is it that the hieght board behind the suspect seems way off on all the mug shots from KSP? Could this man actually be 7' 4" tall?
