Man indicted for assault with a knife

An indictment has been handed down on the man accused of stabbing another man in the Pineville Community Hospital parking lot. Dallas Carl Shackleford II, 50 of Middlesboro, was indicted on the charge of first-degree assault.

Shackleford allegedly stabbed Terry Treece in the chest and cut his throat using a box cutter about three months ago. Treece then walked from the parking lot to the emergency room, where he received emergency treatment.

Officer Kevin Goodin from the Pineville Police Department was the officer who arrested Shackleford on Sept. 7. According to the Bell County Detention Center website, Shackleford was released from the center on Sept. 8.

The Pineville man who allegedly stole several guns and possessions from an alleged victim has also been indicted. Justin D. Mason, 24 of Pineville, was indicted on eight counts of receiving stolen property (firearms), one count receiving stolen property under $10,000, operating on suspended/revoked operators license, no/expired registration plates and no/expired Kentucky registration receipt.

According to previous reports from the Bell County Sheriff’s Department, Mason allegedly stole 19 guns, $2,500 cash, a bag of old coins and a case knife collection.

At the time of the incident, Mason allegedly hid five of the guns in weeds near the victims house and eight guns his apartment. The coins and knives were also allegedly found at Mason’s apartment.

Deputies later recovered two guns from Middlesboro, two guns that were hid in the woods behind Mason’s father’s house and one pistol that was sold to a man in Straight Creek.

Deputies BJ Brock and Shane Stewart of the Bell County Sheriff’s Department investigated the case.

A Pineville man accused of shooting at several victims and setting a driveway on fire was also indicted recently. Eddie Dewayne Hurst, 51 of Pineville, was indicted on five counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

According to the indictment, Hurst fired a weapon in the vicinity of several individuals and also poured gasoline on a driveway and set fire to it. Officers at the scene included deputies Brock and Mike Cooper of the Bell County Sheriff’s Department, along with Troopers Joey Brigmon and Brian Greene of the Kentucky State Police.

Other indictments handed down by the Bell County Grand Jury included:

* Latonya L. Farrow, 22 of Middlesboro, was indicted on the charge of first-degree promoting contraband and first-degree possession of a controlled substance;

* Fredrick Clay, 26 of Middlesboro, was indicted on the charge of receiving stolen property over $500 and for being a persistent felony offender;

* Heather Davis, 25 of Middlesboro, was indicted on the charge of complicity to commit theft by unlawful taking over $500;

* Gary Wilson, 23 of Middlesboro, was indicted on the charge of theft by unlawful taking over $500;

* Patrick Sullivan, 36 of Harrogate, Tenn., was indicted on the charge of second-degree robbery;

* Michael Partin, 28 of Middlesboro, was indicted on the charge of receiving stolen property over $500 and for being a persistent felony offender;

* Justin Davis, 29 of Middlesboro, was indicted on the charge of theft by unlawful taking over $500;

* Annie Neal, of Pineville, was indicted on the charge of second-degree unlawful transaction with a minor;

* Sherri Dawn Barnett, 45 of Middlesboro, was indicted on two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and for being a persistent felony offender;

* Justin R. Davis, 29 of Middlesboro, was indicted on the charge of second-degree burglary and possession of burglar tools;

* Tony G. Brock, 32 of Pineville, was indicted on the charge of alcohol intoxication in a public place, resisting arrest and two counts of third-degree assault;

* Mark J. Hatfield, 53 of Pineville, was indicted on the charge of first- and second-degree trafficking a controlled substance and for being a persistent felony offender;

* Justin R. Davis, 29 of Middlesboro, was indicted on four counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument;

* Terry Wayne Jones, 34 of Pineville, was indicted on the charge of second-degree trafficking a controlled substance;

* Lola Kay Knuckles, 33 of Beverly, was indicted on the charge of first-degree trafficking a controlled substance;

* Bryan Patton, 37 of Middlesboro, was indicted on the charge of theft by unlawful taking over $500;

* Heather Lynn Polly, 36 of Cumberland, was indicted on the charge of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, failure to register transfer of vehicle, two counts of failure to or improper signal, failure of owner to maintain required security, failure to produce insurance card, first-degree possession of a controlled substance, operating on suspended/revoked license, second- and third-degree possession of a controlled substance.
