NEW ELLENTON, S.C. – Mrs. Vida Williford Rowland Martin, 84, wife of Mr. William Frank Martin, of New Ellenton, entered into rest on Thursday, June 7, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James G. Rowland; a son, James Steven Rowland; and a grandson, Michael Seth Rowland.
Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Jenny Lamb and Mary Rowland Chambers (Chucky), all of New Ellenton; stepchildren, William Glenn Martin (Debra), Bristol, Tenn., Rita Faye Davis (George), Roger Allen Martin (Angie) and Donna Gail Graham (Charles Jr.), all of Aiken, S.C.; a brother, Dan Williford (Laura), Del Rio, Tenn.; a sister, Theda Shumate Smith (Cecil), Augusta, Ga.; five grandchildren, Greg Baker, Graydon Chambers (Rebekah), Summer Phillips (Cole), Jamie Rowland and Patricia Green (Mike); six great-grandchildren. Winter, Waylon, Bradley, Jordyn, Heather and Micah; nine step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
Born in Middlesboro, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Elsie Webb Williford. She was a retired office clerk for E.I. Dupont with 35 years of service. She was a member of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church, the Millbrook Jubilee Club, the Odell Weeks Senior Friends, the Pairs and Spares and the Doctors Hospital H2U Group.
Funeral services will be on Sunday at 3 p.m. at Foreman Baptist Church with the Revs. David Little and Brancie Stephens
Interment will follow in Aiken Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Roger Martin, Charles Graham, George Dewees, Glenn Martin, Donnie Chambers and Billy Fee. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of the church.
The family will greet friends on Sunday at the church from 1 p.m. until service time.
