Norma J. Stapleton, age 83 of Middlesboro, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Middlesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born April 14, 1929, in Middlesboro, and was the daughter of the late C. R. and Bess Rhodes Wilson. Norma was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a long time secretary at East End School and a member of First Baptist Church, Middlesboro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Billy and Bobby Wilson.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Roy Stapleton; her son, Dr. Steve (Elaine) Stapleton; daughter, Jane (Dr. Neil) Barry III; her grandchildren, Neil Gordon Barry IV, Elizabeth Rhodes Barry and Maria Grace Stapleton; her brother, Kenneth Wilson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Sue Stapleton; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Sadowski of Hickory, N.C., and Pat Wilson of Middlesboro; and loving caregiver, Zelda Robbins.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 23, at First Baptist Church, Middlesboro with the Rev. Jack Pennington officiating. Music will be provided by Larry and Karen Blondell.
Interment will be at Green Hills Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Joey Sadowski, Ray Sterling Stapleton Jr., Kelly Wilson, Chris Wilson, Ed Wilson and Dr. Doug Wilson, and Chalk Stapleton and Charlie Nagle. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. C.C. Moore, Dr. Frank Mappala, Ray McGreagor, James Pursiful and the Adult II Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church, Middlesboro.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 23, at First Baptist Church, Middlesboro.
Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, Middlesboro, or the Activity Fund at Middlesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center.
