Joe Browning, 99 of Frakes, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at his home.

Born April 17, 1913, at Knox Co., he was the son of the late James and Doxie Evans Browning. He was a member of the New Vine Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 63 years, Elsie Browning; two grandsons, Kelvin King and Douglas York; daughter-in-law, Sandy Browning; son-in-law, Lawrence “Bill” Maiden; five brothers, John, Rev. Charlie, Oscar, Hugh and Hillary Browning; and two sisters, Maude Fuson and Mary Fuson.

Survivors include, wife, Linda Browning of Frakes; ten children, Eugene (Pat) Browning of Lafollette, Tenn., Irene Madron of West Carrollton, Ohio, Pauline (L.D.) King of Huber Heights, Ohio, Thelma (Jim) Moses of Elsmere, Arthur Browning of Vandalia, Ohio, Wade (Paulette) Browning of Dayton, Ohio, Nolan Browning of Frakes, Ernest Browning of Vandalia, Ohio, Elise (Bill) Maiden of Frakes, and Rita (Bo) Chamberlain of Walton; step-children, Raymond Croley of Corbin, Roscoe Croley of Siler, Joe B. Croley of Williamsburg, Thelma Jones of Williamsburg, and Pauline Lee of Barbourville; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at the Creech Funeral Home with the Revs. Wayland Mason, Jerry Fuson and Melvin King presiding. Music will be by The New Vine Church Choir and the King Family.

Interment will follow at the Browning Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, along with Jimmy Jones and Raymond Jones.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Creech Funeral Home.
