Jerry Wayne Brewer, 71 of Evarts, formerly of Pineville, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Harlan Appalachian Regional Healthcare Hospital. He was born in Pleasant View, Kentucky on September 8, 1941 and was the son of Ralph and Lela Alice Estes Brewer. Jerry was retired from the Kentucky State Police where he served as a Trooper and Detective locally for many years, and was a member of the Bell Masonic Lodge #691 in Pineville.

Survivors include his children, Sherry Jo Miracle of Pineville, Christopher Wayne Brewer and wife, Samantha of Blue Creek, OH, Rebecca Ann Slusher and husband, Mark of Pineville and Amy Helton of Evarts; step-daughter, JoAnn Hill of Evarts; his soul-mate, Nancy Helton of Evarts; grandchildren, Jeremy and Adam Miracle, Keith Brewer, Jordan and Jarrod Slusher, Jacob Fox, Nicholas Helton and James and Joseph Hill; brother, Larry Joe Brewer and wife, Rhonda Cheryl of Key Largo FL; sister, Carol Hamlin and husband John of Dothan, AL; special friends, Jeff and Donald Posey; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and colleagues.

Services will be on Tuesday at 7PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Welch. Special honors will be presented by the Kentucky State Police Honor Guard. Cremation will follow the service at the Arnett & Steele Cremation Center in Pineville. A private graveside memorial will be held for the family following the cremation. Honorary pallbearers are all past and present troopers serving Kentucky State Police Post 10 in Harlan and his “Friday Night Poker Group” buddies.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that contributions in Jerry’s honor be made to Kentucky State Police’s Trooper Island Children’s Camp at Trooper Island P.O. Box 473 Albany, Kentucky 42602.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM Tuesday at the Arnett and Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to be serving the Brewer family. Light a virtual candle and sign the guestbook at www.arnettsteele.com.
