Nancy J. Stanifer, age 84, of Lafayette, passed away at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013, surrounded by her family, at her daughter’s home in Lafayette.

Born on June 10, 1928 in Middlesboro, KY, she was the daughter of the late Edward Brady & Myrtle York Brady.

She married Rev. Robert E. Stanifer, Sr. on May 4, 1947 in Middlesboro, KY and he preceded her in death on December 14, 2001.

Nancy worked for Pillsbury in Lafayette for 15 years and retired in 1985. She was active with Harvest Chapel. She was the church secretary for the former Open Bible Gospel Church which her late husband founded.

Nancy loved singing & sang for residents in area nursing homes and visiting shut-ins. She enjoyed her family & church family. She was a huge fan of country and gospel music.

Surviving are her children: Bobbie Gayle Landreth, Linda Sue Leap (husb: George, III), Robert E. Stanifer, Jr. (wife: Lee), Patricia Ann Stanifer all of Lafayette, D. Kay Muse (husb: Kenny) of Mulberry & Cinderella R “Cinde” Shockey (husb: Glen) of Dayton; 1 brother: George Brady of Michigan; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren & 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son: William Edward Stanifer; 3 brothers & 1 sister.

Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 with the service at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Hippensteel Funeral Home, with Rev. Cordell S. Kenner officiating.
