HANCE’S CREEK — A bus wreck in the Hance’s Creek community of Bell County resulted in minor injuries Tuesday afternoon.

According to a news release from the Kentucky State Police Post 10 Harlan received a call at approximately 3:52 p.m. that there had been a bus collision. Trooper George Howard responded to the collision site on KY 1344 and began in investigation.

Preliminary investigation by Howard indicated a 2006 International school bus was traveling on the roadway when the rear back tire dropped off the road and caused the bus to go into a ditch, the release states.

At this time, the number of kids on the bus during the collision is still unclear, said KSP. For precautionary reasons 11 of the students were taken to the Pineville Community Hospital to be seen. Only a few of those kids had very minor injuries, the release states.

All of the students’ parents were notified about the collision and the children were picked up at the hospital. Drugs or alcohol are not being considered a factor in the collision, the release continued.

The collision is still under investigation by Tpr. George Howard.
