KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Lincoln Memorial University juniors Henrique Rezek and Danilo da Silva have been named to the NSCAA All-Southeast Region third team, it was announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
Behind the dynamic Rezek-da Silva duo, the Railsplitters posted an 11-7-1 record, accounting for the program’s most wins since 2012. Lincoln Memorial finished fifth in the South Atlantic Conference standings with a 6-5 league mark, and eventually made a run all the way to the SAC Tournament title game. The Railsplitters suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 double-overtime loss to Tusculum in that match to bring the season to a close.
Rezek, an All-SAC honorable mention selection, accounted for 10 points this season on three goals and four assists. The Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil native registered 20 shots and 11 shots on goal while dictating the pace of play for the Railsplitters from the midfield.
Rezek tallied a pair of goals in the Railsplitters’ run to the SAC Championship title game, scoring against both Brevard and Tusculum. He also scored the game-winning goal in Lincoln Memorial’s home opener against Southern Wesleyan on Sept. 7. Rezek added assists in back-to-back matches against Lees-McRae and Newberry in early October.
An All-SAC first team and D2CCA All-Southeast Region second team pick, da Silva lands on the NSCAA All-Southeast Region third team after racking up six goals and eight assists on a SAC-leading 90 shot attempts and 20 shots on goal. Da Silva posted two game-winning scores over the course of 19 appearances.
Da Silva was red hot at the start of the 2016 campaign, tallying four goals and three assists through the Railsplitters’ first six matches, including a two-goal outburst against Brevard on Sept. 14. He also tallied a pair of assists in the SAC Tournament while racking up 13 shots over those three matches.
Heading into the 2017 campaign, the Railsplitters will return 11 of the 12 players that scored at least one point this season as well as starting goalkeeper August Ahlin.
