The Lady Lions jumped ahead in the first quarter and never looked back as Pineville eased by Thomas Walker 53-18. The Lady Lions’ starting five and Whitney Caldwell tallied 27 points in the first.

Jill Enix and Sarah Combs paced the Pineville offense. Enix scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds. Combs finished the game with 11 points while shooting 50 percent from the field.

Morgan Thompson scored eight points, and Caldwell picked up seven points off the bench. Makenzie Fuson and Autumn Short ended with six points apiece. Short tallied nine rebounds as well.

In addition to Pineville’s offensive presence, the Lady Lion defense kept the Lady Pioneers at bay. Pineville held Thomas Walker to six points in the first, three points in the second, seven in the third and two in the fourth quarter.

Kalli Marcum led Thomas Walker with seven points. Kim Lee finished the game with five points.

Up Next

Pineville (2-0) returns to action at 7:30 p.m. when they travel to McCreary Central (2-1). The Lady Lions defeated the Raiders 67-39 in their lone matchup of the season last year.
